MTN inflexibility makes it impossible to upgrade contract and keep my number

I've been an MTN contract customer for 11 years. I am now on a voice/data only contract. My phone broke last week, I desperately need a new phone, however MTN policies will not let me keep my number and upgrade my existing voice/data contract until my current contract expires (Feb 2019).

MTN - why is it easier to get a phone through a different network provider and port my number, instead of upgrading my current MTN contract to add a device and keep my number? Why do you make it impossible for me to pay you more money? How can this make business sense?????

Hi Kabelo, After endless issues, i managed to get an upgrade, and was told i'd get a new phone in 3 - 7 working days. 11 working days later, I haven't gotten my phone, nor been contacted. I have called 083 1 808, ********** , called Retentions, the courier company and sent an email to MTN customer service. Two weeks later and literally holding on the phone for hours, i don't have a replacement phone or any information as to when i will get it. Do you realise that if i'd gone to your competition, I would have gotten a new phone the same day? Kabelo, I don't want apologies or your understanding or confirmation of my complaint. I need results or information. And if not, clearly my business is inconsequential to you, and I'll take it elsewhere.
