MTN incompetence
On 8/01/2020 I went into a MTN shop at Mossel Bay Mall and asked them if I could stop my existing contract as I wanted to buy a new i-phone and upgrade my contract. I paid a penalty fee as I terminated my contract prematurely. On the same day I ordered a new cellphone through MTN online. I never received the phone and never signed for a new contract. I also never requested a sim swop. On 26/02/2020 I started receiving invoices from MTN for my new contract and phone and an ammount went of my bank account as well. I suspected ***** and contacted my bank to stop all debit orders for MTN. I contacted the ***** department of MTN on the toll free number numerous times to inform them that I never received the new phone. Every time I phoned they they asked my id number and told me that the call was being recorded for security reasons. I then received a reference number. I also noticed that the mobile number on the invoice did not match my mobile number, but the rest of the information on the invoice matched mine. I phoned MTN numerous times to try and explain that I suspected *****, but nobody ever returned my calls, and they could never give me an explanation of what happened. In April 2021 they handed me over to a credit control company by the name of CSS. These people phone me numerous times during the day despite the fact that I sent them a few e-mails to explain that that I am now working through my lawyer to try and solve this problem. He requested information from MTN which they failed to supply up to today. I have been a MTN client for many years now, but I cannot believe that they never came back to me or contacted me regarding this whole situation. I suspect that this was an inside ********** job by one of the MTN employees, and now I am being harrassed by CSS to pay the money for something I never received. I am continuing my legal battle, but want to warn customers against a absolute *********** and ********** MTN.
