MTN ignoring emails and unauthorised collections

My MTN 24 month data contract expire in February. I gave MTN a written notice on 30 January that I won't continue with the contract as I will be moving networks. Received email on the 7th where MTN want to know if I will become a 'pay as you go' user. I responded the same day and confirm that I want to close my account.

Since February and every single month thereafter, MTN forwarded me a bill and debit my bank account. I have not used the MTN data since March, but I get billed the full amount every month despite cancelling my contract. When it happen last month, I forward an email of complaint to [Email Removed] I did not received a call or return email to date. MTN just ignored my complaint and request to cancel the debt order. Instead, they continue to charge me for May. When I tried to contact them today on 083 1 808, guess what, the number is not working. So if you try to email or phone them, MTN is not available and not willing to help, but keep on charging for services that was cancelled and acknowledge since February. Absolutely pathetic service experience. Will now have to get my bank to stop the direct debits.

Hello josephpieterse,

We truly are sorry for the inconvenience caused and for the breakdown in service.

We've now escalated the matter directly to the management team within our Cancellations Department, requested the line to be cancelled immediately and the necessary credits to be allocated to the account.

We will touch base with you as soon as the matter is resolved.

Regards
Tim
