MTN ignores ***** in their Company

On 27/03/2024 we discovered that MTN sold a mobile phone online to someone pretending to be my wife. The phone was delivered to Kempton Park while we live in the Western Cape.

Now, after 2 months of stress and trying to get this debit order stopped, the debit order just went off again. Standard bank says they can't help us and we must take the matter up with MTN.

I have sent numerous emails to MTN and the only response was that we must provide them with a power of attorney. I asked them about the wording of the power of attorney, but 5 emails later we have apparently been ghosted by the company. No response, nothing.

ICASA and FAIS cannot help us. The complaint has now been sent to the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud.

If this does not produce results, we will have to take legal action against MTN as there seems to be no interest on their part to do anything about this case.

Their automated response just shows how cynical they are in their approach to customer problems : We always try to respond within 24 hours and are committed to resolving your complaint or query with processes aligned with Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) requirements. Warm Regards, MTN

In conclusion, we are and have always been Vodacom clients and we do have a case number with the Police.
