MTN holds contract customers hostage at the end of term!!!

1. I have been trying to have my data sim contract converted to prepaid as it had come to the end of the term. I logged a call at the end of Oct with customer care and they have been unsuccessful in managing the query line. 2. I then called in to cancel the contract in November when I received an invoice notifying me that R1700 would be deducted from my bank account. The person on the line gave be a reference number and I was of the opinion that the line was sorted. 3. At the end of December, I once again was charged this substantial amount which has put me in a financial predicament, and I cannot continuously try the telephone lines, as the employees at retentions all cut the the calls once they hear my request to convert to prepaid. 4. I am now of the opinion that MTN is holding customers to ransom and DOES NOT want to cancel my contract. 5. I am aware that 30 days notice is required and I am of the opinion that my queries logged shows that I have indeed given notice at the end of October. 6. I have had R3400 taken out of my bank account, which has set me back as I am unable to meet my back to school commitments. 7. After numerous attempt get a competent employee to contact me and assist me with the reversal of these charges, I have reached a dead end. 8. Myself and my husband have only ever been MTN customers and as a result have had our entire family hooked on MTN. In the event that my query is not resolved, we will definitely be moving over to another mobile network that can treat it’s customers with the respect that we deserve. 9. I do not suggest anybody take out a contract with MTN as it is a life imprisonment. Nobody will respond to your emails and when you do get through on the phone, they always cut the call.

I don't think that MTN has any managers working for them as even when issues are escalated, there is nobody that takes the customer complaints seriously. By the way if you ever want to get through to the Retentions department, choose the option for an upgrade and get them to transfer you to retentions, as this was the only way that I ever got through to that department.

Sad to think that a company that was viewed in good stead can let it's customers down so badly.
