MTN Hates Customers

Logged a complaint on 15 September for a contract which was sold to me under false pretenses. MTN has now jeopardized my income and I am the primary breadwinner for my family of four.

Upon taking this contract I had very specific questions about the contract as I have spent a lot of money installing my current telecommunications system which comprises of; 2 x TP Link MR 600 Dual band routers 1 x TP Link AC 750 TL Extender 1 x Poynting High Gain LDPA Directional Antenna 1 x Poynting Medium Gain OmniDirectional Antenna 1 x Custom Fabricated no mount antenna mast

The full setup cost me well over R 10 000 and boasts a full integrated mesh network.

Upon the conclusion of my previous contract I contacted MTN and they sold me another contract (as there was no equivalent available). It is an uncapped contract with fair usage of 500G. After very tentatively making sure that I could use this sim card in my existing setup, I was surprised to find this not to be the case.

I dealt with Aphiwe from the connections department after struggling all day with the internet and making endless calls to try and get it resolved. I have never been so frustrated in my life. I was told twice that the tower was offline and I had no coverage since last week (even though my current MTN contract worked fine up until this morning), only to be told that the sim is device specific.

Not only is the device of inferior quality, it has no option to plug in anything. I cannot boost the signal, I cannot improve on anything related to the router rendering my entire internet setup useless. Please do me the courtesy of listening to the sale recording as I specifically discussed this point with the sales agent, to which he advised "it should work" when I discussed the details of my current setup.

I got a response from them yesterday 25th of September, and the email in its totality reads that the line was reset. FYI it's still not working.

Beyond pathetic.
