mtn Has failed to cancel data contract 1year ago
I have taken out 2 data contracts with mtn in 2012. When I contacted them in 2014 to cancel the contracts. They said there is still an outstanding amount of R1900.00 on the contracts.

I paid the full amount outstanding and asked that they cancel the contract.

for 2 months I didn't receive statements. The third month I started getting statements again. I phoned them up and asked for a cancellation again and I have done it in writing as well.

After this they promised that the accounts will be closed.

Again they failed to cancel the contracts.

Now they are trying to sue me for an account I asked them to close twice.

Hello Ruben_Oberholzer,
Thank you for posting.
Please accept our apologies for the delayed response and for any inconvenience this may have caused.
According to our records the account could not be cancelled on the 23rd May 2014 as requested as it was 30 days in arrears as advised and the payment arrangement option was offered however was not honoured and the subsequent debit orders returned unpaid as they were not catered for.
Please note that the contract that is in arrears cannot be cancelled until the full amount is paid as stated in the contract. This contract has been handed over and we have escalated this to the legal department. They will contact you for feedback or you may call our customer care line on *** to speak to a consultant in the legal department or write to ***
