MTN Has Cost Me My Livelihood. Years of Loyalty Meant Nothing
I am writing this review with a broken heart and extreme frustration.
I have been an MTN customer since I was 12 years old. I am now an adult whose entire livelihood depends on being reachable and MTN has completely failed me.
Since 31 December, my SIM card has been disconnected and despite endless calls, emails, store visits, and begging, it has still not been reactivated. I have been put on hold for over 15 minutes at a time, transferred endlessly between agents, sent to departments that allegedly “don’t exist”, and promised help that never comes.
Your call centre agents may be called “champions”, but there is nothing champion-like about the lack of training, urgency, accountability, or empathy I have experienced.
I was never sent my billing statements, never informed of my pro-rata bill, and never given clarity on what I owed. I explicitly told the agent who sold me this contract that I would be paying cash, not via debit order. Despite this, MTN attempted to debit my account without consent and then suspended my services when the debit failed without proper communication or warning.
I have visited an MTN store. I have emailed. I have phoned. I have pleaded. Nothing.
I am now on the verge of losing my job because I cannot work without a functioning SIM card. This is not a minor inconvenience this is my income, my stability, and my dignity.
MTN’s slogan about “connecting people” has become empty marketing. The brand has lost the essence of customer care and basic human decency. Loyalty clearly means nothing to this company.
This may be one complaint to MTN, but to me, this is my entire world.
If you are considering MTN, please think twice. I would not wish this experience on anyone.
