Mtn handed over account

Good day, please help me. I was handed over by MTN to Vericred collections and I paid up my account then vericred collection sent me proof of payment. The problem is that I want to clear my name and I went to MTN store and they said they can't help me since I was not communicating with them. So I am not sure what I should do.
