MTN giving wrong information and giving clients the run around.

I took a data package with MTN online sales in November and was RICA'd when I took delivery of my SIM card. Since then I have been unable to make use of my data.

I was repeatedly told that the SIM is fine and I can access my data every time I complained.

Yesterday, 22/02/2021, I was told that magically the SIM wasn't RICA'd. So I RICA'd myself again through their app.

After receiving an email that I have been RICA'd and start using my SIM I was still unable to access my data.

Then I was told that it can take 2 - 24 hours for the block to be lifted when I followed up with their supposed Client Service Department.

24 hours later and my SIM is still blocked.

Now I received an email from their RICA department that I must RICA myself via their app again!!!!!

How many times do I have to do the same thing over and over again?

My request for a manager is being ignored.

I get standard template responses from the email team. They don't even read my emails properly!!!!!!

I was going to take my contracts over from Vodacom as they expired, but I guess I will be going with a different service supplier.

Clearly, my money is not good enough in the eyes of MTN South Africa.

Went to MTN shop N1 City. Was told by person working there that a temporary ID is not valid for RICA purposes. Went home and checked on MTN's website, and guess what? Temporary ID's are accepted:

VALID IDENTITY DOCUMENTS

  1. Green bar‑coded ID document
  2. Smart ID
  3. Temporary ID certificate issued by Home Affairs
  4. Passport

I then phoned the RICA call centre on *** at 10:22.

Was told to wait 15 minutes. I waited until 11:30 and guess what? I still can't use my data.
