MTN Freestate Goldsfield *****

Hey, on Saturday, 25th March I picked up a *****elent upgrade which was done on my MTN Data line while sitting at home on my couch.

How I picked this up:

· I received an XDS notification with an OTP Number on my primary MTN contact number, which to my knowledge is a verification MTN uses when one takes out or upgrades a contract

· Both my primary number and previous data line were both RICA barred all of a sudden on the same day

I immediately headed to the MTN Clearwater branch (which is where I took out my previous contracts) and whilst there the consultant who helped me picked up that a ********** upgrade was taking place in an MTN Store in Freestate, Goldsfield where my MTN Data line was been upgraded to a Minute 500 package with an Apple IPhone 7 128 GB

And the consultant at the Freestate Branch was adamant that the person pretending to me was the real person. They couldnt even give a valid reasonor break down on what checks they did.

The RICA Status of my numbers was also displayed as unknown, and I was informed that when ********** upgrade a contract, they usually target a data line contract because theres a loophole with this type of upgrade.

In any case I proceeded to do the following on the same day:

· I immediately went to the SAPS and did a Sworn Affidavit stating that I did not authorize the upgrade in the Freestate, MTN Goldfields Mall on the same day this took place

· I also submitted this along with a certified copy of my ID (from the SAPS) to the branch in Clearwater, everything was captured on the system, and I received a reference number which I can use to follow up with the reversal on my account by calling 808,

· I called 808 first thing Monday morning and asked a few questions, namely around the availability of the ********** documentation which was submitted to process the contract at MTN Goldfields Mall and they suggested I send an email to this department. I would like to have these documents shared with me so I may track and find the identity ***** and take legal action against them. It really shocked me that this person was able to bypass the security checks so easily even though, my primary contact number is on the MTN system as well as my certified id copies, as well as residential address. The person was somehow able to upgrade a contract of a customer who lives in Johannesburg in the FreeState using a completely unrelated number to whats on the system??

In any case, I contacted the ***** department at MTN and sent them the following:

· A certified copy of my ID

· A copy of my affidavit

· The MTN reference number

· A screenshot with the date and timestamp of the XDS notification I received when the ********** activity took place

· My MTN Number

· A proof of address and an electronic statement on my account

I havent received feedback nor have the ******* documents which were processed by the MTN Freestate Goldsfield mall have been shared with me.

I profusely fail to understand that seen that i can prove my identity why MTN cannot at least assist customers in fighting identity theft help us track these people by sharing these false documents they use? Its already bad enough that the branch processed the *****elent upgrade on my data line without doing thorough validation checks. It's 2017, and to think that people can easily still get away with identity theft is disappointing.

Good morning
Its been over 15 working days and i havent received feedback around the investigation and the *****elent documents used.
Also on what grounds does the ***** department decline the investigation? i mean to me that sounds like "sweeping the problem under the carpet" and if we continue to do that, we're basically condoning identity theft, and as long as we do that, we keeping loopholes like this open, and letting more lives of innocent people been ruined.
In anycase could I please have feedback ?
Thanks
