MTN ********** Activity
MTN decided to start debiting my account for a contract that I never signed up for let alone signed any debit order forms. I tried for weeks to get in contact with MTN to find out what was going on. I received no response from them. I was advised to report them to ICASA. After reporting them to ICASA the debit orders stopped.
Needless to say a couple of weeks ago I get a email from a law firm called Hammond Pole Email: Hammond Pole Attorneys have been instructed to start legal action on your MTN account. To stop this action contact us immediately
My response to them was that I need documented proof of where I signed up for this contract.
MTN's response was: Should Mr. Kleynhans dispute ever opening this contract we would need this on an affidavit with clear police stamps as well as a copy of his ID in order for our ***** department to commence an investigation. If he is aware of this contract than an immediate payment is requested to cover the arrears.
This is totally ridiculous, Why is the onus on me to prove that I never signed up for this contract? Now I must waste my time and money getting a signed affidavit. I truly believe that their account department is probably in such a mess that they don't actually have the required documentation.
