MTN ***** Line
I received a call from an MTN number yesterday and was asked by the caller if I had app**** for a sim swap at MTN Eastgate to which I rep**** that I had not . The caller than told me to hold on the line and I then received a pin number FROM MTN and was asked by the caller to give him the pin number which I refused . I phoned the MTN ***** line and was just brushed off even though I asked how I coul receive a pin number from the official MTN message centre . Very concerning !!!!!

The One-time-Pin (OTP) **** is a new phishing method that is being exacerbated by ********,
of which is specifically targeting our MTN customers. As an authentication and security feature,
an OTP is generated as a validation measure when transacting on the MyMTN App or MyCustomer self-services
website.
The ******** use the genuine OTP to access the victim’s account and transfer points, airtime or data to themselves.
An OTP message is confidential and should not under any circumstance be shared with anyone.
MTN’s ***** department will not contact you to block the processing of a SIM swap request.

However , my concern that the pin number was sms'd from your official message number and the fact that the caller new all my company's contract phone numbers , leads me to believe that this ***** is coming from within your company .
