Mtn *****

I was caught in a “sim swap ****” last week Thursday. I was phoned by someone informing me that there is a person in the shop trying to make a sim swop on my number. He gave me my number as well as the numbers linked to my account. He also had my email address. Obviously I believed him because who else will know all my info. He send me a OTP to reverse the "alleged sim swop" which I read to him. When the call ended I received a sms that my spending limit was increased to R9707. I went onto my app and called MTN call center immediately. The assistant told me that it was a **** and he reported it. When the call was ended I checked my app and saw that the ******* bought 2x R3999 worth's data. 200 Gb. I immediately called MTN again and was told to send an affidavit and copy of my ID to them and they would “investigate”, which I submitted at a MTN store close to me on Saturday as we were busy with a tournament in Margate at that stage. I was told it would take roughly 2 weeks to resolve but I am still liable for the outstanding amount as I gave the OTP to the *******.

I would now please like to know why would someone **** me by buying 200 Gb data and leave the data in my account?? Why didn't he transfer the money or data or whatever to him? Something is fishy here.. Why can't MTN reverse the transaction immediately?? Who will have all of my personal MTN detail?

Maybe it's time to close my MTN account and find a service provider who will support their customers and keep their information safe.
