MTN *****

Last night a debit order of R1230 was deducted from my bank account by MTN. I DO NOT have an MTN contract. When I called the callcentre I was informed that a contract was taken out on my name telephonically. How can a cellphone company allow telephonic contracts without proof of address, proof of bank account and an original ID??? Needless to say, this is now a matter for the police, but these companies need to put stricter policies in place.

Good Day,

Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention.

Please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused. Kindly note that security verifications are always done when a contract is opened. Please be advised that we need an Affidavit and a Certified ID copy for a ***** query to be logged and investigations can be done. Once investigations are finalized and you are found to have been a victim of ***** then the contract will be closed and you will be refunded the amount billed for the ********** contract. If you have not submitted these documents as yet then please send us an email with these documents attached to ***.

Rest assured that it is not our intention to displease you and we look forward to continue improving on our service delivery to you.

Kind Regards

Good day,

It is quite obvious that your security verifications are not sufficient, as a caller cannot produce proof of ID, address and bank account.

One of your regional managers, Roxanne, informed me that you had another of these cases the month before mine, so this is not a phenomenon, you are ALLOWING ********** behaviour.

I will most definitely be going to the newspapers and will report MTN for allowing this to happen.
