I took a 500Mb a month contact from MTN. They provided me with a recycled number. I keep on receiving calls, text messages and WhatsApp messages of the previous owners of the number. I have engaged with MTN on several occasions to rectify the problem, they told me I had to pay R 250 to receive a new number. I receive all the previous owners personal information regarding money owed to various organisations.

I am of the opinion that this is a flaw on their process of making a number dormant before distributing it to the next customer and I should not be liable for the cost involved to obtain a new number.
I was informer on the 28/10/2015 at 16:25 that MTN came to the conclusion that they will not pay for the number swap because,

o I do not spend enough money with them monthly.
o I have not been a long-time customer as this is my first contract with them.
o There is a remedy in their opinion that I have to pay the R 250 and get a new number.

Their reasons not doing the number swap infringes on Consumer right no. 1, with the situation infringing on consumer right no. 2

I was told they are not prepared to rectify the problem.
