I had numerous cellphone accounts with Nashua mobile and one directly with MTN. Nashua mobile then closed down and moved all my cellphone accounts over to MTN. Now in January 2014 I went onto debt review, and included the direct MTN account in the debt review listing. But kept my Nashua mobile accounts active as they were services I still used.
One of my cellphone numbers that Nashua moved over is due for an upgrade and I cannot do this until my other account is up to date and my arrears is paid. I was informed by two different consultants at MTN that all I needed to do was pay the arrears fees and my upgrade will go through. I was quoted R978.00 in arrears and made the payment.
I was informed that my upgrade for my other account will now be processed!
Today after having an outstanding issue for over a week now, I get a call from a consultant at MTN to tell me that I have to pay an extra R4000. I have tried to contact their legal department on numerous occasions but have failed.
Had I known this to begin with and not falsely advised to make the payment of R980 I would've let the debt review take its course.
I am infuriated as I feel I have been ****** and '******* into payment!!
