MTN false advertising!
I went to MTN Clearwater to upgrade my contract. In the MTN booklet, package number 7 they have a P20 lite with a supposedly "free" LTE router for R369 on the "M" package. I asked what the price would be on the "L" package for that product and was told R509. I said that I would take it. She went to get the phone and when she came back I asked about the LTE router, as she did not bring it. I was then told that it was NOT FREE and I have to pay an additional R60 a moth for the LTE router if I want to take it. What bull is this? Why does MTN advertise that the router is free, but in actual fact it is not!

Thank you for your post.
We are terribly sorry for the inconveniences that you experienced as a result of this. We completely understand the frustration it causes.
Please note the store is correct, the package advertised is based on a Made for Me M contract and is loaded as such on the system. If you wish to take the Made for Me L on the same device unfortunately the package does not come with a Free Router. The free router only comes with the device on Made for Me M package. Therefore MTN has not falsely.

10 Feb 2019, 07:27If this was explained to me when I asked for the made for me L package I would have accepted it as there is no mention in your booklet that it is only for the one package.
Previously when I upgraded to a higher package, everything stayed the same I just had to pay for the upgraded package I took.
There is no mention in your booklet either that this package is restricted to only the first few customers in South Africa.
I went back to MTN to apply for the package, but I was told that there are none of these LTE modems left in South Africa at any MTN branch not even in your warehouses.
Is this for real or only because I complained???
