MTN fails to issue an upgrade handset
I regrettably called the MTN corporate call center to confirm my contract upgrade and requested a handset. Two days after requesting the handset I called the call center again to request a change in handset. I was advised to reject the initial handset upon delivery, which I did. It has been three weeks since rejecting the unwanted handset and after calling in to the MTN corporate call center over six times and speaking to more than six people, I have received six versions of the status on my application and not one call despite promises to be called back.

The issue was escalated to Thandeka Mncube on 3 December with the promise that she would call. She did not call. Instead I called on 4 December and was put through to her. She gave me yet another inconsistent status update and promised to call on by 12pm on 4 December. Surprise surprise, she has not called. MTN has me between a rock and a hard place as they seem incapable of issuing a replacement device, and reluctant to discontinue my contract with them as they clearly do not value my business. Why us, why me?

With such incompetence the R48.5bn fine is well deserved.

Kindly note that the matter has been escalated to Thandeka for assistance.
