MTN fails - again

MTN is really bereft of any ability to really sort out in depth problems. I wonder what the cause could be? Are they losing qualified personnel to Vodacom or are they just ..well.. MTN as usual?

I first report an error in about June 2017. This error occurs when some callers get an error message after calling my umber. The error message is something like 'the number you are calling is not registered' or 'the number you are calling does not exist'.

This problem was once again reported to me this morning. This is causing me trading losses and no end of headaches.

If MTN cared they would have fixed this error. Waait a sec.. I know who cares...Vodacom.

I tried calling MTN support. No way. Their telephone options on 173 do not list any support no. I called the '****** phones' option and asked them for the support no. I was told to call 155. Oopps wrong no. So I called back the ****** phones option and spoke to Sherlone Mashila and I asked for a supervisor. After holding on for about 9 minutes, I got told that the supervisor, Nkmosinathi Mshwane would not take my call.

All I wanted was for a competent person to give me the correct no.

Perhaps Telkom is even superior to MTN, and Telkom is really poor in both sales and support.

I wonder what my legal options around this could be?

I have now decided to go to Vodacom and get a new number as MTN has forced me to do so by there absolute failure to provide me with the most basic services. I now have to change my business cards, web site info etc and this will cost me at least R30k which I intend demanding from MTN. MTN will no doubt involve their legal team to try and scare me off, and when that doesn't work they will answer, see you in court. Those legal fees will cost MTN at least R40k up to that point, but MTN wont want to admit liability, so well end up in court. That's where it gets interesting. I have proof that MTN ahs failed to correct this problem for about a year. Lets see them argue that one. Of course, my Facebook profile will reflect all as it occurs. I have no idea what money I have lost in trading due to this totally unnecessary problem.

Thank you for your post.

We sincere apologized for any inconvenience incurred.

The business solutions number is 1555 and not 155. This is a free number from any prepaid or contract sim card number.

Please confirm the details where you have reported this problem for assistance.

I called 1555. There is no option for support; The options are : 1. Puk no, sim swap, lost or ****** phone 2. Accounts billing and recharge queries 3. Services such as Blackberry, content subscription internet settings 4.Bundles, MTN Play, roaming, voicemail 5. Change your language Are you aware that if you call 083155 you do not get an option to talk to an MTN service champion? I called 155 from my cel and got the option to talk to a person. Liesel answered, I told her my story and she put down the phone, or the phone line was disconnected. No one called me back. I called 1555 again. Waited again for the whole recording before I could talk to anyone. Got thorough. Spoke to Nolwandle Dube. Had to tell my story again for the at least 15th time to MTN. Can you possibly even begin imagine my frustration levels? She said that she will log the call. Now an MTN technician is going to call me and I am going to have to tell him the story again. Please get a senior person to call me. This is enough.
