MTN failing to cancel my expired contract

I have been trying to cancel my expired MTN contract for the past 5 weeks at no avail. I have sent numerous emails without success. MTN responds to my Facebook Mesenger messages saying they have referred me to the retentions department, but no one from retentions has contacted my back. I need to do it via email and therefore cannot do it over the telephone.
