In March 2021 I did a sim only contract with MTN and two months later I discovered there were 2 more contracts opened on my name without my consent. I went to one of the branches and I was I'd used that I should go to the police station for an affidavit then send it to their legal department. I did so and submitted all the required documents to their legal department. In December 2021 I called to do a follow up on the case, and I was told the accounts were canceled but when I asked for proof of cancelation, I was told they cannot provide that instead they can only provide me with the case reference number . In May 2022 I received a call from one of the debt collectors informing me that the account is handed over to them whereas to my knowledge, the account was canceled. Everytime I follow up with MTN and explain the whole story, the consultants always transfer me to different departments and then end up hanging the phone. On the 2nd June 2022 I was advised to email the legal department again, till today there is no response from the MTN team. I have been trying to resolve this issue with MTN for the longest time and still have not been assisted. Few days ago I checked my credit report, and realized the account has defaulted. And I contacted MTN again on the 13th of March 2023 to resolve the issue, I am being told that they don't have traces of the account on my name.
