MTN
On the 30/6/21 I was ****med of 400G of data costing R16500.00. This happened after MTN had discovered that that their data base had been hacked. MTN did not advise me of the breech in security I was phoned by someone claiming they were from MTN. They had all my details including my ID number. However at this stage they were not able to transfer the data from my phone .I went straight away to MTN Northgate and they confirmed that the 400gigs was still in my phone. They advised me to phone 083135. A ***** docket was opened and then closed. I phoned again and I was told that they could not help me. I asked MTN numerous times to please take the 400 gigs out of my phone before the hackers found a way to get it from my account. They said it was against their policy to buy back data and again they said they could not help me. At this stage the ******** had not been able to transfer the data and it remained on my phone for 6 days. On the 6th day they managed to get it out. On the 7/7/21 we went to Morningside MTN to see if they could help. They referred this to head office and 2 days later they advised me that they could not help me. MTN now want me to pay R16,194.99 for the ****** data. I am a pensioner and do not even get this amount in pension each month. I have been with MTN for over 20 years, never missed a payment AND never bought extra data or airtime.
