MTN evolves leaving their processes and staff in the dark ages
So we had Black Friday specials @ MTN and cyber Monday. My business could do with a new contract so decided to make contact with MTN, the account manager Dishen Harilal indicated that the deals are valid at all stores so I could do a deal with him or at a store. I asked him if the process is the same and he said yes none is faster than the other, Being a traveler it made sense to open a contract at king Shaka international airport as I had landed and the store was open. I got there emailed my documents to the lady at the store of which she said that her colleague who I called started the process and she will scan and email my signed documents. We waited for a few minutes and the Agent ( Zanele Mabuza) at King Shaka international tells me my documents were not received I checked my outgoing email and show her it's sent. I asked her to check in junk folder and she finds it. She opens it and tells me there is no attachment I tell her to move my email to her inbox and it will show the attachment, she was impressed at my basic knowledge of using Microsoft Outlook. "NB this is a branch at an international airport" we all happy now that the document is signed and ready to be emailed to Mr Dishen Harilal account manager SME. NB time is around 21:26pm 25 November 2018. I leave on a happy note now that I know MTN has my documents and this being a International airport the most competent ambassadors of MTN will execute their duties diligence. My intuition led me to send a SMS to Zanele at 07:26am the next morning asking if my documents were sent to Dishen, I got no response. Fair enough it's her mobile number and it's early so I expect a response later. Unfortunately to date nothing from her came through. So much for courtesy. Message sent to Dishen he says he received nothing and will speak to Zanele supervisor they could not find the signed documents. I was asked to scan and email. Anyway long story cut short days later no response and I enquire again with Dishen who indicates that some documents still needed completion, now remember I am not sitting around waiting for MTN if they found documents incomplete or their front line staff knew what was required I would have signed everything at the airport. I am now threatened if this is not done in this period of time I don't qualify blah blah blah.. I rush off to sign documents to meet the demands of Sharneen Ramdeo rush to a Internet cafe and send of the documents. I advise them that I will be traveling again back to Jhb so we need to expedite the delivery, I'm told on the 29 November the delivery will not happen before the 4 Th December I agree and understand as a reasonable person that it's busy so I say please can I get a call before delivery. I land in Jhb on the 4th and again SMS Dishen asking where we at. No response. Finally my sim arrived on Friday 7 December 2018 at 15:30 no phone call before delivery and I am 25mins away from the address rush hour traffic in Jhb and I need to be there before driver leaves he can't wait too long, Today it's the 11 December and I'm still not activated with my new SIM card. After 11 emails 17 SMS 10 calls What else is required to get on board MTN? MTN your technology has evolved, your processes and people are unfortunately still in need of evolving. I trust you will consider some real training that will improve your customer experience. Happy to hear from an executive that is willing to assist and I'm willing to offer you some training free of charge. Please don't get your gatekeepers from the CIP team to call me on behalf of an executive if you serious about taking your company to greater heights get the right person to call and hear my thoughts.
