MTN *****ENTLY CHARGING UNSUSPECTING CUSTOMERS
From the start, their people were grossly ***********. They didn't know how to actually start a cell phone contract application. Then when the contract sim didn't work, I went into the Menlyn branch where the person who worked there didn't know how to find the password on the router! Really? She was absolutely ***********. She couldn't even speak but here she is facing customers and looking at personal information like my identification and my banking records. There are literally competent people sitting looking for a job who will go out of their way to make sure they know what they doing rather sit there and not have a clue.
Let me not get started on the facebook page. That whole system is a sham. Those people don't know anything. When you email customer service, they don't reply until days later. Trying to call MTN on 135 is also bad. The people don't answer and when they do, they pretend they can't hear you and cut the call then you end up not being able to get to speak to someone again. It's either that or their systems are that bad. I called in and canceled a contract as it was set to expire. I called in 30 days before and couldn't get hold of anyone to assist (on a Friday). I had to call back on the Monday which was then 3 days after the 30 day notice period for cancelations so my contract will run 3 extra days at my cost which was not my fault as I could not get hold of them. I put the instruction in and received the email to confirm and I then continued with life as this is the exact same procedure I followed for the same type of contract I had just 3 months prior (different sim). It worked then so I assumed it will work the same now and they had confirmed to me that it was going to be canceled in a month. Fast forward to days after the cancelation was supposed to happen; the internet still worked so I realize that it actually wasn't canceled. I call in and they say it wasn't closed and they cannot tell me why THEY didn't close it over 30 days ago like they were supposed to and like I was TOLD it was DONE. I had done everything that I was supposed to do and received confirmation but it didn't happen. Then I asked who is liable for the mess up because I asked for it to be canceled and MTN didn't do it. Guess what? It's ME!!! Now I have to pay for their mess up and I cannot block it because it will affect my credit history. To top everything off, you assume that when you sign a cellphone contract, it is the same price for the period for which you sign (24 or 36 months). NOT with MTN. They have yearly increases that they don't tell you about when they sign you up.
MTN is filled with *********** people who have no clue what they are doing. Do not support these people. I have had surprisingly MUCH better service with Telkom, Cell C and even Vodacom. Rather use them. DO NOT SUPPORT MTN!
