MTN doesn't have a customer care
On the 15th of July 2020 I visited MTN Sunninghill to fetch a phone I ordered online on contract. I spent roughly an hour in store signing what needed to be signed on paper printed unclear and terms and conditions unclear and not explained. As per contract there is a SIM and connection fee. Having a prepaid MTN number, this was provided to now use for the contract. After taking my new phone and unclear paperwork, reaching home to use my new phone became a nightmare and I was unable to do as I was not provided with a new SIM card for my new phone on my new contract. This led to my need to get this phone not being fulfilled. Also, I was told that MTN does not have any dual SIM phones to offer.
The branch was called on the 16th where I spoke to Tshepiso (forgive the incorrect spelling ) , she advised that I could now come in and get my sim card (was this not apparent on my initial visit that I now have to revisit the store unnecessarily because of *********** service ??)
I have now reached a point where I would like to exercise my right to cancel within my 7 day window as per the law and told this to Tshepiso where she advised I would need to call head office. I've called 180 and 135 and both numbers area either not available and are voice prompts that do not lead to an actual person to assist. An email query was sent where I believe would take 8 to 13 hours to receive a response. This is utterly pathetic and does not conform to any customer service standards. I would like to cancel every dealing with MTN as soon as humanly possible and would like to have this resolved by close of business today.
