MTN DOES NOT WANT TO CANCEL MY CONTRACT AND CONTINUE TO DEBIT MY ACCOUNT!
DID YOU KNOW YOU ARE UNABLE TO CANCEL YOUR CONTRACT WITH MTN? THEIR RETENTIONS DEPARTMENT IS PATHETIC! I HAVE BEEN TRYING SINCE FEBRUARY 2019 TO CANCEL MY CONTRACT WHICH EXPIRED LAST YEAR BUT MTN CONTINUED TO BILL ME ON A MONTHLY BASIS THEREAFTER. I AM UNABLE TO GO INTO THEIR STORES AND CANCEL AS THEY DO HAVE THE FACILITIES INSTORE TO CANCEL A CONTRACT AND WHEN I CALL 083135 I WAS GIVEN A REFERENCE NUMBER: ***, BUT THEY STILL BILLING ME. I HAVE SENT NUMEROUS EMAILS SINCE FEBRUARY 2019 ANS I AM TO-DATE STILL STRUGGLING TO GET MY REFUND AND THIS DEBIT ORDER STOPPED I EVEN ASKED MY BANK TO REVERSE THE DEBIT ORDERS EACH MONTH BUT MTN CONTINUES TO RECOVER THE REVERSED AMOUNTS THE FOLLOWING MONTH. I WOULD LIKE FOR THE OMBUDSMAN TO INTERVENE AND SORT THIS OUT FOR ME.
Thank you for getting back to me.
I have sent you all the email trails since 01 April 2019 requesting for cancellation and stated my numerous attempts at the Stores and calling 083135 even prior to the emails sent on 1 April 2019.
The ethical solution for MTN would be to reimburse my premiums since my contract ended in February 2019 considering my attempts to cancel by dialing 083135 which every time was unsuccessful and my attempts at 2 Stores. If you listen to my voice recording on my call to Themba on 2 August 2019 he admitted that there were issues with getting through to 083135 and therefore asked me to send the email again to Retentions.
I do not think it is fair that if MTN has issues with their internal systems and if as a result customers cannot get through on time as a result of faulty systems, customers should be liable for their billings which would been cancelled otherwise.
