MTN does not offer value

I believe that MTN seems to offer less and less value every year. My contract is up for renewal next month and I was sent a sms stating that if I don't upgrade by September, my monthly payment would increase from R374 to R1260. So I took a look at their offerings only to find that their offerings are a total *******. My last contract was a Samsung A6 plus (very low quality phone to be honest, the screen cracked almost a month after receiving it) with 1 Gb ( + 2 Gb bundle) of data with 100mins and sms's which all came to R475 per month. Currently the offerings below R500 a month don't even get you 3 Gb of data. All the data is split 50/50 between anytime and night time. So effectively you only get 2.5 Gb for daily use. On top of that, if you would like a phone with Gorrilla glass and possibly wireless charging you have to pay in excess of R900 pm for a barebones contract that offers 500mb of data and 50 mins a month. So i am basically stuck with either getting no data and a semi decent phone that could last 2 years or I get a mediocre paper weight that won't last the length of the contract or I simply have my monthly rate tripled without receiving a new phone or any other value added. The combination of bully tactics and lack of valuable options has steered me towards moving my number(which I have had with MTN for nearly 20 years) over to a competitor. Don't bother with MTN
