MTN DOES NOT CANCEL CONTRACTS TO GAIN INCOME

I had an encounter with MTN, the day that I opened a contract with them, they did not have stock of the phone, the made me wait more than a month for my handset and it is impossible to reach customer care, I have previously sent emails to them and have received no response. I cancelled my contract well in advance as I know that the service is way below standard and received a ref nr for the cancellation, even after that they send sms's of upgrades due and that you are eligible for a new handset...after making clear that I never want the hassle of having to deal with them again. I called today in order to ask them why my contract has not been cancelled and the lady that I spoke to was rude and put me on hold for almost 20min ( this is not the first time that I have had to waste my time and money to get rid of MTN). I will make sure to tell everyone I know to stay away from MTN as it is clear that they do not even attend to the cancellation of your contract in order to debit some extra money from your account!!!! If I were management in MTN, I would be ashamed to say that I am associated with that company!!!!! I HAVE NEVER HAD SUCH A BAD OVERALL EXPERIENCE!!
