MTN do not honour contract cancellations - BEWARE
I went in store on 6 July 2023 to cancel a contract which was up for renewal as I no longer need it. It should not surprise me that MTN STILL cannot cancel contracts in store - which I find extremely suspicious and have no clue how MTN has been able to get away with this for so long! The service assistant however was able to do something on his side - again suspicious if you say you aren't able to cancel in store. After he did whatever he did, I received an email confirming that my account would be cancelled effective 7 July 2023 and a service consultant would contact me to confirm this. I did receive MISSED calls, always at odd times and NEVER more than one call at a time - so unlucky if you didn't hurdle the couch fast enough to pick up the first time. Whoever was calling was clearly so desperate to contact me that they DID NOT BOTHER to email me! But MTN are quick to email their statements and invoices, of which I received again this morning for the same contract I GAVE CLEAR INSTRUCTION TO CANCEL TWO WEEKS AGO. This can only be seen as a flagrant abuse of market power and is I fail to see how this is ethical corporate behaviour. How much money is MTN making from contracts that they just don't bother to cancel WHEN THEY RECEIVE CLEAR INSTRUCTIONS TO DO SO!?
