MTN Dismal service and *********** staff

I would like to share my experience with MTN thus far..

On Friday 6th April 2018 i took out a new contract at the MTN store in Century City. I am an existing MTN customer, having my wife's contract with them. I was told by the sales assistant, Jacky, that the contract approval would take between 2 and 24 hours to process and to subsequently be approved.

On Tuesday 10 April i received a call from Jacky indicating that my contract has been approved and is ready for collection.

On Thursday 12 April i proceed to collect my phone at the MTN store. I get to the store and Jacky is on leave. I then dealt with a sales assistent named Howard who then informs me that my contract has not yet been finalised but instead has been provisionally approved and that i may not get my new phone. I ask him why this is the case and he says he doesnt know. I leave the store.

On Friday 13 April i call the store and they inform me that my contract has been finalised and is ready for collection. I then ask again why was i told by Jacky that my phone is ready for collection and again i receive the answer "i dont know"...

This is really appalling, poor, dismal service from the MTN Century City store. I would NEVER EVER recommend anyone to visit the store or to use the services.

Following this, i then posted a review on Hellopeter. I then received a phonecall from an MTN representative and he said i would be compensated with a R200 airtime due to the poor service provided to me by MTN, This was approximately 2 months ago. I still have not received my R200 airtime.

I also have not yet received my free simcard which i was supposed to get with my new contract which comes with a free R55 airtime each month. I was supposed to get the si,card when i collected my phone but it was not given to me by MTN Century city. I then followed up with a phonecall and they told me it would be posted t o me. I have not received anything.

2 months later and i get billed for April and May however i did not receive a billing receipt as i requested must be emailed to me on a monthly basis. I then followed up with MTN Century city and they informed me it would be sorted out. They sorted out nothing. I then contacted the MTN head office switchboard and they told me they will sort out the issue. Still nothing. I then visited the MTN store in Greenmarket square in Cape Town CBD and they too tried to sort out the issue. They then informed me that the reason why i never received my statements was because they were being sent to me by MTN via MMS. Why would i ask for my statements to be sent to me via MMS if i gave my email address to which i want my statements sent to? Who in 2018 still uses MMS?

Eventually after almost 2 and half months of struggling, i contact the MTN call centre again and they manage to sort out my statements which were sent to me yesterday for the months of April and May.

Overall my experience with MTN has been VERY VERY VERY VERY POOR. The staff are ***********, lack training and basic customer s****s.

I would not recommend MTN to anyone. EVER.
