MTN - Disgraceful Service!!!
I was able to upgrade on the 8th of January 2020. I visited MTN Queens Corner, Queenswood, Pretoria where I requested to upgrade to a Samsung Galaxy A80, but was informed that the store was out of stock of the particular unit. I then decided to, instead of order the phone from that particular store, try and find out if there weren't any other store that had it in stock, with the idea to visit a branch that had stock and then upgrade from there.
What I found to my dismay after contacting MTN Wonderboom Junction, MTN Kolonnade, MTN Menlyn Park and MTN Brooklyn was that none of these stores had any of these models in stock?!!
I then continued to contact Samsung South Africa and was informed that the particular model phone was in stock at Samsung and that MTN just had to order the units!!
I contacted MTN Customer Care, which rep**** by informing me that they found out that their warehouse did not have any stock of this particular model!
I kept contacting MTN over a period of two weeks in the hopes that the phone would become available, but to no avail!! I spoke to one of the branches again today and was informed that they had been waiting to receive stock of this model for the past 4 weeks now!!
I subsequently placed my order for the unit as I do not have any other choice, as this is the unit I really want, but I find it highly disgraceful that loyal clients' have to sit and wait for a product that is available locally, me personally for two weeks, but others for over four weeks!
Now we've been informed that we could be waiting for another 2 weeks, but they do not have any idea as to if they will receive the units by then?!
I spoke to a Vodashop and was informed that if a client of theirs ordered a Samsung A80 today, they would receive it within two days, if they do not have any stock on hand, seeing as Samsung SA has stock available!!
This makes me ask the question, 'why are we as South Africans satisfied with this kind of service?!!' I sure as day am not the first person this has happened to and this is the second time I have been confronted with a situation where I have to wait for a phone to be delivered!! The previous time was with a Samsung S6 Edge, which took MTN over 6 weeks to deliver!!
South African companies, like MTN, needs to start looking at service delivery as more and more people will start to wake up and realise that there are other options out there and that holding on to existing customers is just as important if not more, than gaining new ones!!
