MTN DISAPPEARING AIRTIME 1 YEAR ON!

On Mon 14 Nov 2016 I received an SMS from MTN informing me of upgrades being done 14-22 Nov 2016 in my area to "IMPROVE MY EXPERIENCE". Having had bad experiences with MTN in the passed I started monitoring my airtime and data usage daily. All went well with my daily deduction of R2.00 ( AIRG- content service), as explained by Tim previously. On Tues 29 Nov 2016 I checked my balance first thing in the morning and logged my balance. During the couse of the day I checked my balance periodically and noticed small discrepancies in my airtime balance. I then phoned 808 and spoke to"Guguletho" who it seemed was programmed to say "turn off your data function" before I could explain my problem. I ended the call having achieved nothing. I then checked my balance every 2 hours starting at 17:55. When I checked again at 19:55 the balance was the same. I checked again at 21:55 and found a differance of R541.27, including R2.00 AIRG!! I immediately turned off my phone and removed the battery to prevent any further loss. Ithen checked my balance at 7:14 0n Wed and the amount had been ajusted back with ONLY R22.67 missing. I must ask MTN is it the customer or MTN's experience that has been improved by your UPGRADES? To date I still cannot find any value in your "content service"or who app**** for the said service.

Good afternoon Michael

Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience experienced.

We are sorry to have disappointed you with our service and would like to assure you that it is certainly not our intention to dissatisfy our clients.

As per my investigations on our systems I have noted that you have been correctly charged. The R22.35 you have been charged was made up of R10.48 for an internet session at 16:15:56 and R11.87 for a voice call on 2016-11-30 09:08:33

Should you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact us on 808 or *** from other networks.

We understand that the entire experience must have been very frustrating, it is not our intention to displease you. We do look forward to improving on the service delivery to you.

Regards

Yahya

Reviewer Update

Yahya, please explain the following :- I have had a Blackberry for the last 5 years. When I changed to a Blackberry and renewed my contract the assistant informed me that I should add the "Blackberry Internet Service" to my contract. This would allow me unlimited internet and associated apps ie. "Whats App" usage at no extra charge to myself. For the last 5 years it was so. Recently (after the upgrades in my area) I am being charged for internet usage (R10.48) for 1 Whats App download! Immediately after the Whats App I received the following :- You are depleting at out of bundle rates! Save by dialing *141*2*999# to buy a Data Bundle or dial*141*2*13331# to buy a Daily 100MB Bundle for only R15.00. Has my conditions on my contract changed and MTN omitted to inform me? Why after 5 years are "Bundles" being offered after receiving Whats App and charges now being charged? My contract only becomes due in August 2017. Please explain!
