MTN Dirty Tricks Packet Switched Data call SCANDAL

What has it come to? Is it necessary to ***** from unsuspecting customers to bolster profits?
Out of the blue my wife who works with me started being charged absorbatant data charges.
We have been Prestige customers for the last 22 months then suddenly without any warning she was charged R3000 (Oct) R2500 (Nov) & R3000 (Dec) - our package is normally R2000 p/m per plan.

She was never informed that she had reached her 2 Gigs of data limit which we normally never reach
She was never prompted to top up her data and provided with any options of data packages she could chose from.
I just got the shock of my life when I received her bill, do you know how much data a person can by with R3000 per month. R339 buys me 2 Gigs of data - Why do you feel it necessary to hit me with a R3000 for 3 Gigs, have I not been a good customer to you for the last 22 years increasing my spend with you year on year?

Is the way you want to treat me?
I am disgusted to say the least, very sad MTN that you have resorted to these underhand tactics

My wife visited your head office & was promised assistance but after she left nothing was done we were just stonewalled by your Business End User Call Ctr Agent
Hello mwmkp,

Thank you for your post.

We are terribly sorry for the inconvenience that you experienced as a result of this. We completely understand the frustration it has caused.

Kindly be advised that the system shows that prior to the upgrade, the number was on an open package. Once the monthly provisioning has been used up, you are charged on the out of bundle rate. When you are on an open line contract we advise that you monitor your account by checking your balance. The line has since been migrated to the MTN Sky package where you receive uncapped data.

Rest assured, it is not our intention to displease you. We look forward to improving on the service delivery to you.

Regards,
Ayanda
