MTN did NOT brighten up my day...

Extremely disappointed in MTN. I upgraded my contract a couple of months ago, but decided not to take a new handset. This obviously resulted in a huge monthly saving. But... this did not reflect on my accounts. When I scrutinised my invoices I saw "Promo fee" on there for nearly R200. Upon inquiry, MTN emailed me back to say this is the fee for the handset that I took. I explained that I did NOT take a handset and that I want to be credited for these amounts they took. They then asked me to forward them the contract. Strange how MTN asks ME for the contract, but okay. I phoned the local branch (Robertson, Western Cape) where I upgraded and they assured me that they would take it further and sort it out for me. I did not receive any feedback from them but did receive an sms saying that my details were updated. I hoped that that meant everything was sorted and made a note to check my new statement. My October statement indeed reflects a credit for R612 but the clincher came in the fact that they increased my opening balance with R677.90. I tried to phone the branch again (6 times) without anyone answering, so yesterday I went into the branch. After 20 mins explaining, the person behind the counter still couldn't help me and told me his seniors are on their way back and would phone me. It's a day later and no one has phoned me back yet. I tried phoning them again now. No answer. So I phone customer care (135) who answers the phone "how can I brighten up your day" and after I explained everything to her, she asks me to phone them back in 2 hours because the system is down. No, they cannot phone me, they are not allowed to make outside calls. Seriously MTN. To my knowledge, there are 3 people working at MTN Robertson. Believe me, they are not cracking under the workload. Customer Care couldn't care less. And now I have to get in my car again to drive after you and try sort out YOUR mistake. O no wait. Their system is down, so that won't help either. But in the meantime you have taken my money again via debit order, so I'm glad I could at least brighten YOUR day.
