MTN deducts more than agreed in contract
<p>I took out a cellphone contract with MTN in June 2016. MTN has deducted the following amount from my bank account since then:</p> <p>June 2016: R599.01</p> <p>July 2016: R599.01</p> <p>August 2016: R617.53</p> <p>September 2016: R1 598.56</p> <p> </p> <p>What will my debit order be next month? R2 000? </p> <p> </p> <p>I want my money back.</p>

We are terribly sorry for the inconveniences that you experienced as a result of this. We completely understand the frustration it causes.
The account was billed for data usage. The data usage on the invoice dated 2016-09-13 is R876.80.
Try and connect using Wi-Fi and there should not be any cost incurred, but please ensure that the cellular connection is switched off on your device when using the Wi-Fi, else your device may just connect via the cellular network instead of the Wi-Fi which will incur charges.
Please note that besides internet usage your handset can also generate charges via upgrading of data applications and automatic running of same.
You may also monitor your usage by using our USSD Code. To registering your number dial *** to create a 5 digit pin. Thereafter you can monitor your usage by dialing *162*5 digit pin#.
We would like to assure you that we are actively working to improve our service levels.

How can I be billed for data usage?
When my data runs out I have to by additional data to be able to connect to the internet.
When my data runs out non of my internet applications work.
This does not make sense at all.

Nothing makes sense. If you add the R876 to my the R599 it would still not add up to R1598.
