MTN debit order stopped, cannot contact customer service to resolve
MTN has failed to deduct my monthly subscription fee as they usually do. I noticed in the App that I am now "Overdue" as a result. There is nothing wrong with my account and there is sufficient balance for the debit order to go off, it just simply did not get deducted.
Upon trying to call customer service on 083 135 to find out what happened I was simply not able to get through to any support agent that can assist. I have now tried to get through 3 times, with the longest period I waited was 20min before giving up.
I certainly hope MTN will not expect customers to notice when they fail to deduct money from thier account (especially when they want to pay) and then decide to suspend accounts. Though looking at twitter there does in fact seem to be these cases.
Unfortunately the agent could not find out why the debit order did not proceed, but confirmed it is an issue on MTN side.
The agent did however do a once off debit order for now to get my account up to date and set the system to not suspend my account.
He suggested waiting till the end of the month to see of the debit order goes off on the normal date, if not he will personally raise this as an issue internally.
For now this is resoved but will update if the next debit order does not work.
