MTN data ***** on its customers

I have a data sim-card with MTN with an annual credit limit of around R6400 together with my cell sim-card, and in the last month all of a sudden I have a R12411.72 data bill in addition to the monthly payments i have been making. When I upgraded my contract with MTN I took a 5G package with a top up however they decided to make it an open contact line in their system rather than putting a limit as on my contract. I have always paid my bill every month for my contract. Now I get told on the phone that I have massive data charges last month and that no limit has ever been imposed on my contract.. Is this not day light ******* and internal *****?

Hello kudadr,

We are truly sorry for any inconvenience caused and the delayed response to your post. It is not our intention to dissatisfy you in any way.

The credit limit on the account is basically the total credit that MTN allows you to have on the account. We see that you have a usage limit on the line and it was set on the 27th of February 2015 for R0.00. Once the available data is depleted, you would need to load airtime to purchase data bundles.

A request has now been logged with our Billing Department to investigate the packet switch data call charges on your invoice dated the 13th of March 2015. The reference number for the request logged is REQ:***.

We will be able to touch base with you once the request has been dealt with.

Regards
Tim
