MTN DATA *******
On the 25 April 2024, I called MTN to provide 1 month notice of my cancellation. I was told that I must give 30 days notice from the date the contract ends which was 11 May 2024. I even emailed customer care and via emailed informed it is 30 business days. Already the discrepancy with the notice periods. The 11 May 2024 was a Saturday and they were closed therefore I followed up with an email to the cancellations department giving notice of my intention to cancel. Little did I know, that email address is just a “sham” no one attends to that email. When I followed up on Monday the 13 May 2024 I was told that notice can only be placed on the day I call yet I provided email notification. I received a reference number for the cancellation ***. I then followed up and was told cancellation was only done on the 14 June 2024. On Saturday the 15 June 2024, I received an invoice from MTN stating that I must pay R1962 for 50 gigs of data. On the 18 June 2024, I queried this and was told my the consultant this should not be the case and I was given a reference number 1-*** and was told to call on the 20 June 2024 to follow up. For the past 3 hours I have been calling MTN and being sent pillar to post and playing the blame game. I think that MTN deliberately does this to customers to ensure they pay huge sums of money at the end of the contract term.
Now I am been told I should have paid early cancellation fees and that 50 gigs of data cost R 1962. This is absolutely ridiculous and will be challenging MTN legally for everyone else as well who they have “******”
