Hello.
I received an sms on 29 April, stating that my data contract term had ended, and my charges would increase from R146pm to R468!! I was on leave in an area without signal or landline and therefore immediately emailed customer care (as per GoLegal advice) to cancel the contract immediately. The response was that i had to call the call centre. I confirmed that i could not call the call centre until after expiration of the contract and requested assistance over email. I was then informed that the retentions department had been forwarded my query and would assist me.
Being back in signal, i attempted today (04/05) to call customer care and confirm cancellation has been actioned. Every avenue i took via the multiple choice menu options led me to being redirected to speak directly to a 'champion', which promptly disconnects the call every single time. I attempted this for a good 40 minutes before contacting a store branch for help. The store branch refused to help me unless i come through in person, they wouldn't even attempt to assist - very poor. I am pregnant and not prepared to go into a store during a pandemic, and shouldn't have to do so in order to be assisted with cancellation which is my legal right!
I urgently require someone to effect the requested cancellation on data contract ***, as i am not prepared to be charged for an (increased) additional month of contract due to MTN's shady cancellation 'process', or lack thereof altogether.
