I purchased a BlackBerry Priv on a two year contract from MTN at R 529-00 per month on 18/02/2016. (I did not default on my payments for the full contract period.) After using the phone normally for +- one year the satnav system started to malfunction. I handed the phone in for attention on 27/03/2017. After waiting 40 days, MTN gave me a new replacement phone(BlackBerry Priv). Shortly before the two year contract ended the (new) phone's battery started to play up. I submitted the phone for attention on 05/02/2018. After a few weeks, MTN gave me another new replacement phone. By this time my contract had ended and I switched to pay as you go. That was +- three months ago. About a month ago ago the new phone(3rd new phone) started freezing and took more than 10 minutes to restart. I handed this (3rd) new phone in for attention on 24/04/2018. I was phoned by MTN today to say that as the two year warranty period ended on 18/02/2018 I was not eligable for any service. I could have my old faulty phone back or pay an amount of R4,000 (+-?) for a new Huawei Smart phone. The purchase price of an Huawei Smart is as far as I can ascertain, +- R4,000, so I don't know what the benefit there is with them making this offer.
I indicated that they should return my faulty phone to the Store.
During the period of the contract until today I have spent some 10 weeks waiting for replacement phones.
I have paid on contract for a phone and at the end of the contract period I am holding a faulty Blackberry Priv which is of no value.
