Mtn Cresta - Save your time and money , go elsewhere.
I have had the worst experience at MTN Cresta. I went into the store on 06/03/2021. My contract was due for an upgrade however I did not wish to take out a new device but rather move the contract into my own name(from my dad’s) and to keep the data package and the insurance going. A simple task one would think. I spent 1 hr and 45 minutes in store with Thuli for her to tell me the system had gone down and my application had been rejected as I have not been employed for 3 months. I have been at my new company since 03/12/2020 and have been fully employed for the last 4 years. I asked her to resubmit and she advised she would call me on Tuesday as the submission team doesn’t work on a Sunday and she was off on Monday. I received no call from Thuli. I followed up via email on Tuesday afternoon and again on Wednesday morning where she advised the contract had been approved. I asked her to send me proof of the approval, confirmation of the premium and the relevant documents for my records as I had left all the signed documents in store. She did not respond. I followed up again on Thursday and on Friday where I advised I would have to escalate this if she did not reply to me by C.O.B. Thuli then sent me the personal documents of another customer including ID, proof of bank, address and company documents. As I am sure you are aware of the implications of this according to the POPI act? I do not share the same surname, initials or name as this person so this goes to show how careless she is with client’s personal and private information. As we were not having any success over email I called in and Thuli proceeded to become impatient and worked up. I then asked to speak to the manager, Ricardo, who has since been of no help to me either. He said he would lodge a query with HO and get back to me. I have had to follow up relentlessly. He has since advised that the application was rejected because I do not have a clothing account. I do have a credit card, a good credit record and I passed the MTN credit check so what exactly is the issue? He is still not able to advise on if the insurance is still active. When I called in this morning he behaved as if we have never spoken before and I had to re-explain this entire saga. You would think that someone you have spoken to every second day would know your name by now. Furthermore he told me he was not in on Monday but we spoke on Monday so now he is also being dishonest. He was meant to check on the system and get back to me 2 hours ago, when I call in the phone rings unanswered and if I am lucky enough that it is answered he is busy. Perhaps MTN needs to conduct stricter hiring procedures and invest in more time training their staff.
