MTN Contracts ,not Consumer friendly

I have been enquiring about cancelling my contract with Mtn. I cannot believe that even upon an earlier visit in store, I was told that there is NO way I can cancel my contract. When asked if this was common practice, the associate advised yes. For the past few months I have had endless issues with Mtn and enquired about cancelling. I am in essence paying R300 each month for a service I have no value using. I cannot believe that as a consumer there is NO way out of Mtn Contracts. Surely there is protection under the Consumer Protection Act??? After 14 years with Mtn , I cannot wait for this contract to end. Calling the call Centre just to enquire about a contract break fee????? And they cannot call and enquire in store???? Not very customer service orientated I would say. I want someone to contact me and assist, and NO contacting the Call Centre is NOT an option.
