MTN contract sim (highly discourage it!)

I was granted a sim contract with MTn which worked about 2 months and then stopped working. I was asked to settle the amount to cancel the contract. I did and would send proof of payment every month and it was acknowledged but their complaints team but now they say they can’t see my payment and I must pay again.
