MTN contract service unacceptable

This is just unacceptable. My phone crashed (pay as you go) and i desperately needed a new phone - so i went to MTN to get a new phone. I then got a contract deal - 2 in 1 deal. The lady who was assisting me then made a mistake and typed the wrong phone when she was invoicing me. I thought this was not meant to be that complicated and i understand mistakes happen so i left the shop with a loan handset that i was given. Now a week later - i still dont have a phone and my line has now been deactivated, so i cannot make any calls or receive any calls. I call MTN and i am told headoffice is resolving this. It is unacceptable to deactivate a number without activating another - as i am now stuck with a line that is just not working!!!
