MTN contract phones

In 2018 I took 2 contract cellphones at MTN. I cancelled the contract in 2019 due to financial constraints. This year 2022, I received an SMS from MTN stating that I owe them R3200 and they threaten me with legal steps. I wanted clarity on the matter but I never got a satisfactory explanation. I had to pay the money because I was afraid to handed over to lawyers.
