MTN contract phone

Entered a contract with MTN and the phone was delivered safely a week ago. The sim card that came with it is not working. I tried calling MTN several times and i kept being told to wait for 24hrs for it to work. It is still not working. When i try to call the MTN cancellation department, so that i can cancell the contract and return the phone with everything that came with it, the line just drops. I am receiving no assistance. unfortunately there is not MTN store nearby where i reside.
