MTN contract handed over

I missed one payment on my mtn contract they suspend my sim card, i dont receive calls and i can't make call. I called them they they said my lines are suspended until i make a payment on my account so now when i call them to make a payment they told me that my account is handed over, how can they hand over my account and close my lines how will there collector going to find me, am heart broken about this.
