MTN - contract cancellation process

I have had the worst service with MTN. When it is time to cancel your contract they send you from pillar to post. I am not sure whether the intention is to prolong the process to charge you for extra months. My issue is can't they find a better way of cancelling contract because this process of calling is not working.
