MTN Contract Cancellation additional fees

Can someone explain to me why on earth we still pay more fees after cancelling a contract with MTN, after the customer service agent said we no longer need to pay? Yet we received an R1400 bill for August and another bill for R18,18 for September? Can you explain for a 100-marks how this makes sense? Why are we still paying for this service?
